Why do we need Clothes?

Well if anyone should be ask a question like this, I think most people will have the same answer. And the answer is this "I need to wear clothes so I wouldn't be naked" Then why don't you want to be naked? Well the answer to the second question will also lead to another set of questions so I'll get right into it.

There are many reasons why all of us need to wear clothes. First of all we humans need to wear clothes for protection and to keep our bodies warm. Unlike any other mammals out there, we humans don't have thick furs to keep us warm. So in early times we humans used different kinds of materials to construct clothes for ourselves. So the creation of clothes began.

Another reason is for a psychological aspect. Some may find it strange if they see another person walking the street naked, some may laugh and some might get offended. Because we tend to incorporate being naked with sex, perversity and insanity. So being with this psychological aspect of our society some of us has developed a fear of being naked in public places or in front of many people. But being naked is not always that negative. Some find it artistic and beautiful.

The next reason is somewhat related to the previous one. For me I think this is the most important reason why we need to wear clothes. And that is to prevent people from sinning in many ways possible. Crime of rape is common nowadays, some experts explained that the common reason for this crime is that people especially women tend to wear less clothes and it drive offenders to commit such crime. Well now imagine people without clothes...... such a scary thought considering the possibility of such crime.

The last reason is to dress to impress. People nowadays seem to care more and more to what kinds of clothes to wear. A certain celebrity even quoted that "You are what you wear" Meaning with different kinds of personalities each and everyone of us have there should be a certain style of clothing we should wear. And not only that, some people wear different clothings depending on their own mood.

And that's about all the reasons I think we need to wear clothes....... What about you? What are your reasons???

The Manufacturing of Jeans

When you buy a pair of jeans, you may wonder where it came from and how it is made. Who made them and at what circumstances.
All the stuffs that we wear has a story to tell and each and everyone of us must know this. Cotton is the basic ingredient in most of our clothes and jeans is one of them. Growing cotton is the first part of the process and done by farmers all over the world.

Growing the cotton – Farmers use nearly quarter of the worlds insecticides to maintain their land free of insects that are threats to their industry. Using such insecticides are very harmful both for humans and their environments.

The processing of the fabric – If you ever wondered why old clothes from your parents or grandparents itch when worn. It is because in the process of making these clothes they use chemicals to dye and make the jeans to feel the way they are. These chemicals are also dangerous if not used or disposed properly and even dangerous to the wearer of the jeans itself.

Sewing the jeans – Labour cost is cheaper that's why most of these processes occur in poor countries. And manufacturers seized this opportunity to provide workers with long hours of work with little wage and even the lack of benefits like Medical Care.

Transporting the jeans – Jeans are sewed in the poorer parts of the world and then exported to richer parts of the world like USA and Europe. And to do so they need ships and airplanes which need oil and gas that causes global warming and pollutions.

Buying the jeans cheaper than it is – This happens in High Street Stores and you can find very cheap items like jeans being sold here. Jeans being sold a very low price means that lesser profit will be gained by those who made them. And this can be the cause why they are made in poorer countries.

Throwing it all away – Buying jeans cheaper means that everyone should have more jeans than they needed. Meaning they will just throw away unwanted and old jeans since they can have newer ones easily.

Having learned this everyone should think that every thing that we do or buy has a story behind it. We should appreciate everything that we gain and give back to those who are in need.
